The human explanation:
'Dave's Porch' is a Social Media service. We exist for the purpose of connecting people via the internet and device applications (iOS, Android, etc.) In order to benefit from our service, you are required to create an account with at least your email, a username and a password.
It is not our intent to distribute your information, and we take all reasonable measures to protect your information.
HOWEVER, nothing on the internet should be assumed to be 'private.' While it may be in our terms and conditions for users to not collect and distribute data gathered from activity within our service, it cannot be assumed there won't be someone that does it anyways. You may have a friend or follower that shares information about you without your knowledge.
If you post, reply or otherwise interact on our service (or any other internet based service) you should never assume complete anonymity or privacy.
Be careful what you post, and follow common sense practices to keep yourself safe.
If you have any questions, concerns, complaints, etc. please reach out to us so we can find a resolution. dave@davesporch.com
The legal explanation:
This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or create an account on davesporch.com and/or any affiliated apps (iOS, Android, etc.)
Personal information we collect
When you visit the service, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the service, we collect information about the individual web pages, products or conversation topics that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the service, and information about how you interact with the service. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”.
We collect Device Information using the following technologies:
- “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.
- “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
- “Web beacons”, “tags”, and “pixels” are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.
When we talk about “Personal Information” in this Privacy Policy, we are talking both about Device Information and Personal Information.
How do we use your personal information?
We use the Personal information (name, username, etc.) to differentiate authors of content produced or interacted with. This information will help us present more relevant content as the service offerings grow.
We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our service (for example, by generating analytics about how our users browse and interact with the service, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).
Sharing you personal Information
We may share personal information with various third parties in order to provide an exclusive experience. The intent of sharing information is to provide feature and functionality. We use cloud based authentication systems and cloud based database systems to store and present data to you.
Currently we use the Google Firebase service for authentication and information storage.
Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Behavioral advertising
As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For more information about how targeted advertising works, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s (“NAI”) educational page at http://www.networkadvertising.org/understanding-online-advertising/how-does-it-work.
While we may use Personal Information to determine relevant ads and related services, we do NOT share personally identifiable information with our advertisers, regardless of compensation offered. Anonymous demographic information may be used to present viable advertising opportunities.
